Happy, Healthy, and Natural!

I never used to buy into the whole 'New Years Resolution' idea. I always thought it was just a bunch of people making year long promises that are broken within weeks. The biggest ones of course, being starting a diet, exercising more often, losing weight, and quitting anything--coffee, smoking, drinking (likely due to the hangover from the night before). If there is one thing I know about achieving goals it's that they have to be reasonably achievable. I also don't believe in dieting, in the sense of instantly cutting your caloric intake to lose weight, because eventually that craving is going to be too hard to resist and all of that work was for nothing. In saying all of this, you must imagine me to be some 300 lb. woman with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth, coffee in one hand, and a drink in the other but that couldn't be further from the truth. Except maybe the coffee part, but I digress. The last few years I have made resolutions, but I promised myself to specifically avoid anything to do with exercise or diet. Instead, I made resolutions around becoming a better person and focusing on my mental health. Things such as patience (though I'm sure I could still work on this), becoming more open-minded, accepting, forgiving, and present.

This year, though, my new years resolution is to reevaluate my diet and exercise and focus on healthy living.

I have been managing my anxiety for a few years now and over the last few months it has gotten worse, to the point where my doctor has increased my dosage. But even after adjusting to the new dose I still wasn't feeling quite right. I recently went to my doctor, again, to talk to him about some new symptoms that I didn't feel were connected to anxiety, but instead he gave me another antidepressant and sent me on my way.

I left and started thinking of healthy, natural ways to improve not only my mental health but my physical health as well. I decided to join Juice Plus. If you've never heard of it before, it's essentially 20+ fruits and vegetables in either a chewable or capsule form. They also have Complete shakes (chocolate and vanilla) that are packed with protein, and contain plant-based and whole foods. I'm really determined to start eating healthy, and this is a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. There are so many fruits and veggies in one tiny capsule, I couldn't imagine being able to eat all of that in one day! Especially with a couple of picky eaters.

There are so many things I like about Juice Plus and I haven't even started yet. First, as a brand, they don't pretend they are something they're not. This is not a weight loss product, this is not a miracle worker, and it is also not a get rich quick scheme. It is simply another tool to have in your toolkit of healthy living. Another thing that's great is the Healthy Starts Program. Once I, as an adult, purchase either the capsules or chewables, I can sponsor a child for free! I love free stuff.

But anyway, once I receive all my goodies I'll be sure to post about all the yummy stuff. For now, here's to a happy, healthy, and natural 2020!

Cheers!
